Scott Shannon is one of the most iconic and respected voices in radio, with a career spanning decades and a deep influence on music programming from early rock ’n’ roll to today’s hits. From 2014 to 2022, he hosted Shannon in the Morning on New York’s WCBS-FM 101.1. Though retired from that role, he remains active as the creator and host of the nationally syndicated True Oldies Channel and as the voice of The Sean Hannity Radio Show, which airs on over 500 stations across the country.
Scott revolutionized morning radio with the groundbreaking Morning Zoo format at Tampa’s Q105 (WRBQ) and went on to help launch New York’s Z100 (WHTZ) in 1983. As Program Director and host of the Z Morning Zoo, he famously took the station from worst to first in just 74 days—a rise chronicled in the award-winning documentary Worst to First: The True Story of Z100 New York (now streaming on Amazon Prime).
From 1991 to 2014, Scott co-hosted The Scott & Todd Big Show on 95.5 WPLJ, the longest-running morning show in New York radio history. He also made his mark on television as one of VH1’s original video jockeys.
Scott’s career has earned him numerous honors, including:
• The Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Personality of the Year
• Five-time Billboard Air Personality of the Year
• Six-time Billboard Program Director of the Year
• Inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, National Radio Hall of Fame, NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame, and New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame
• Named Program Director of the Century by Radio & Records magazine in 2000
